Wuthering Heights was writing by Emily Bronte in 1845. the story tells us about a man named Lockwood who stays at a place called Wuthering Heights. when he gets there he is greeted by Heathcliff, a tall dark man with a face of stone. Heathcliff is callous and likes mischief but is put together and stern. when Lockwood stumbles upon a room he is not suppose to, he awoke the dead and causes Heathcliff to go into misery. Lockwood being the curious person he is asks the maid Nelly what Heathcliffs story is. Nelly tells Lockwood about Heathcliff's rough childhood and his deceiving ways and how he felt the ultimate betrayal and that's why he is like the way he is today.
Character Summary
Heathcliff: an orphan from a young age, in love with Mr. Earnsaws daughter Catherine but feels the ultimate betrayal when she marries his enemy.
Catherine: an adventurous, manipulating woman, is in love with Heathcliff but has to keep her social status up so marries Edgar
Nelly: Wuthering Heights old maid. tells the story of Heathcliff and why he is so callous today.
Lockwood: has no real significant purpose to the story but he is the narrator in the beginning
Edgar: owner of Thrushcross Grange, son of the wealthy Lintons. marries Catherine and is sworn enemies with Heathcliff.
Isabella: Edgar's sister, in love with Heathcliff but later realizes her love for him is a mistake.
Hindley: the man that first made Heathcliff revengeful, has a drinking problem and a gambling problem.
Cathy: daughter of Edgar and Catherine, is over protected by her father to keep her from Heathcliff
Harenton: son of Hindley, hes sweet and kind and is a servant to Heathcliff. neglected by his father and has little education.
Linton Heathcliff: Heathcliff and Isabella son, very weak and always wants to stay inside, his father could care less about him.
